As fall approaches, I plan on making a trip to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome . I’ve been going there since I was a little boy, and I hope my son enjoys it as much as I did as a kid. Many of the planes are replicas, but it does not really matter. Their collection of planes is pretty large, and always fun to see, hear and smell. If you get their early enough, you can even schedule a ride in a vintage biplane. The Old Rhinebeck area is beautiful in the fall, and the photo ops are abundant on a nice day.
I was expecting a little thunderstorm last night, but not a mini tornado. I live in Montclair NJ, and the town is a mess today. There are powerlines all over, trees uprooted and damaged cars and homes.
Storm Damage
Montclair is a very scenic place, and the old trees really add to the character. I was very sad to see some of the huge oak trees that must be close to 150 years old laying in pieces.
More Storm Damage
We experience alot of power outages in my area, mostly due to the trees getting into the wires. On many streets the wires run behind the homes, though the backyards. The lack of poles and wires as you walk down the streets is great, but PSE&G does not do enough to keep the backyard trees off of the wires.
The union rat was out in front of the Hotel Pennsylvania this morning. This appears to be the ‘Extra Large’ version. A few people I worked with booked rooms there… they called the place a ‘Rat Hole’.
