I was a little perplexed as to why this fire hydrant was open in the middle of the winter. Maybe it was just routine maintenance to relieve some pressure? Maybe somebody wanted to make a #1 mess? My guess is that some whiz kid broke the seal on this. The city should really spend a penny and fix these kind of problems. Excuse me… I have to go.

Looking Back – Columbus Circle Fountain at Night
I took this photo back in October of 2006. I had taken my wife to dinner for her birthday, and took this shot as we were leaving the neighborhood. I braced the camera on the edge of the fountain, turned off the flash, and got a pretty good result for a quick grab. I’ve been going through my catalog to get a set of shots ready for some B&W printing… I’ve added this one to the collection for consideration.
Rusted Latch
I bet this old Italian door and latch could tell some great stories if they could talk. Age builds character, and this door has what people in the antiques world would call “patina”. Google AdSense seems to think this site is all about rust, rust removers and rust inhibitors… so I guess it’s about time I put something rust related up.
